CBI Registers Corruption Case Against Officer Sameer Wankhede Who Arrested Aryan Khan

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recently filed a corruption case against Sameer Wankhede, the anti-narcotics officer who detained Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan in the alleged drugs-on-cruise case two years ago.

Wankhede has been charged under Sections 7, 7A, and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, as well as Sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 388 (extortion by threat) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to officials, Wankhede and others allegedly demanded ₹ 25 crore bribe for not framing Aryan Khan in the alleged drug seizure.

The investigation agency conducted searches at a total of 29 locations, including Sameer Wankhede’s Mumbai residence and in Delhi, Ranchi, and Kanpur.

Wankhede was the Mumbai zone chief of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), when he and others raided a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai in 2021.

Aryan Khan, who had been imprisoned for four weeks, was freed of all charges by the anti-drugs agency in May 2022 owing to a “lack of sufficient evidence.”

Previously, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the anti-drugs agency alleged that the investigation led by Wankhede had flaws.

In May of last year, Wankhede was transferred to the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services in Chennai.
