A plea for anticipatory bail has been filed in the Kerala High Court by Vidya Maniyanodi, who stands accused of submitting a forged experience certificate during the interview for the position of Guest Lecturer (Malayalam) at Attappadi Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Arts College, Palakkad.
The accused is alleged to have presented a forged experience certificate in the name of Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam.
Media reports indicate that the accused, charged under Sections 465 (Punishment for Forgery), 468 (Forgery for the purposes of cheating), and 471 (Punishment for using forged document as genuine) of the IPC, is currently evading authorities.
The plea contends that both offenses under Sections 465 and 471 of the IPC are bailable. “The other section of offence namely 468 IPC is not attracted in the instant case for the reason that in order to attract the said provision cheating must ensue pursuant to the forgery committed which is absent in the instant case,” the plea added.
It also argues that the current criminal case has been instigated for political motives and that the alleged offenses, on the surface, do not warrant the charges put forth.
Additionally, it emphasizes that the arrest and imprisonment of the petitioner, an unmarried woman in her mid-twenties, would amount to a miscarriage of justice and impose severe hardships on her.
