19th ALSA meeting in Srinagar, CJI DY Chandrachud to inaugurate the event

The 19th All India Legal Services Authorities Meet is set to take place in Srinagar, Chief Justice of India Dr. Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud will  inaugurate the event.

The conference which is being organized by the Government  and Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority under the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), aims to bring together key stakeholders in the legal community.

The inaugural ceremony, scheduled for Friday, will witness the presence of notable figures including Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman of NALSA, and Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Judge of the Supreme Court of India and Chairman of the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee. Judges from the Supreme Court and the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will also attend the event.

High-ranking officials such as Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, and Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State for Law and Justice, will be in attendance, emphasizing the importance of the event. Other notable attendees include Brigadier BD Mishra, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Chief Justice N. Kotiswar Singh of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, and Justice Tashi Rabstan, Judge of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, who also serves as the Executive Chairman of J&K Legal Services Authority.

The All India Legal Services Authorities Meet provides a platform for Chief Justices of High Courts, Executive Chairpersons, State Legal Services Authorities, and other legal professionals to discuss and strategize the future of Legal Services Authorities in the country. This gathering aims to address challenges, set targets, and streamline legal aid programs across India.

The conference will see the participation of Member Secretaries from various legal entities, including NALSA, State Legal Services Authorities, and High Court Legal Services Committees. Panel lawyers, law students, faculty members, and students from different law universities will also be present. The event seeks to foster collaboration and cooperation to enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of legal assistance and services in the country, promoting a more equitable and just society.
