The Co-chairman of the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD), Himal Akhtar, has informed that the BCD has taken suo moto action and suspended the license of advocate Manish Sharma, who is allegedly involved in the firing incident at Tis Hazari court complex. Manish Sharma holds the position of Senior Vice President of the Delhi Bar Association at Tis Hazari Courts.
Advocate Himal Akhtar mentioned that BCD Secretary Col (R) Arun Sharma has issued a letter regarding this incident. The letter states that “the Chairman of BCD, KK Manan, exercising the powers conferred under Chapter-IV, Section Rule 42 of the Bar Council of Delhi Rules, has immediately suspended Manish Sharma’s license to practice as an advocate.” The suspension takes effect immediately.
Furthermore, BCD has asked Manish Sharma to appear before the council on July 7, 2023, at 4 pm and provide a written explanation. It has also been said in the letter that if advocate Manish Sharma does not do so, ex-parte action can be taken against him.
Meanwhile, the Subzi Mandi police station of Delhi is investigating the incident after registering an FIR. According to the police, shots were fired within the court premises on Wednesday afternoon. It is reported that two groups of lawyers were involved in the incident. No arrests have been made in connection with this incident so far.
