Three New Judges for Himachal Pradesh High Court

The Centre notified the appointment  of three new High Court judges to the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Friday 28 July.

The appointed judges are Ranjan Sharma, Bipin Chander Negi, and Rakesh Kainthla. While Ranjan Sharma and Bipin Chander are advocates, Rakesh Kainthla is a judicial officer.

The Supreme Court Collegium led by CJI DY Chandrachud, had recommended their names earlier this month.

Regarding Advocate Ranjan Sharma, the collegium stated that he was designated as a Senior Advocate on March 29, 2019. He has extensive practice at the Bar, serves as an Additional Advocate General, and has a good professional income. The resolution also mentioned that he enjoys a good personal and professional image with no adverse remarks on his integrity.

For Advocate Bipin Chander Negi, the collegium resolution mentioned that he was designated as a Senior Advocate in 2015. He has been appointed as an amicus curiae by the High Court in various matters and has wide knowledge of different branches of law. The resolution stated that he has a good personal and professional reputation.

Regarding Judicial Officer Rakesh Kainthla, the resolution stated that he joined the judicial service on August 7, 1995, and has served in various capacities in the State. The inputs provided by the Government indicate that he enjoys a good personal and professional image.
