The Allahabad High Court has recently directed revenue officials to produce complete records in connection with the change in the ownership of the Banke Bihari Ji Maharaj temple land.
Justice Saurabh Srivastava passed the order on the petition filed by Shri Bihari ji Sewa Trust, Mathura, mentions that the temple land’s ownership was changed in records of revenue in 2004 in the name of a graveyard.
The plea sought directions to revenue authorities at Chhata, Mathura to correct the entry which has been “illegally” made against the graveyard in place of the Banke Bihari Ji Maharaj temple.
Earlier on August 10 order, the Chhata Tehsildar and other pertinent revenue officials were present in the court. However, the pertinent records were not brought to records.
The court directed these officials to produce the revenue records during the upcoming hearing scheduled for September 23. During the prior hearing, the legal representative acting on behalf of the state government drew the court’s attention to an additional pending application.
This application gained prominence due to the alteration of entries within the revenue records, changing from the graveyard designation to “purani abadi.”
According to the petitioner, the plot numbered 1081 located in Shahpur village is originally associated with the Banke Bihari Ji Maharaj temple, as underscored from the rights of 1375-1377F.
