Shahbad Dairy Murder: Delhi Court Frames Charges against Accused Sahil

Shahbad Dairy Murder

A Delhi Court has framed charges against a man who brutally stabbed and bludgeoned a 16-year-old girl to death in full public view in the Shahbad Dairy locality on May 28, 2023.

Additional Sessions Judge (POCSO), Richa Gusain Solanki framed the charges against Sahil, invoking Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 302 for murder, in addition to invoking provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Arms Act.

The court has scheduled the matter for the recording of prosecution evidence on November 28, 2023.

Special Public Prosecutor Atul Shrivastava asserted that there exists ample incriminating evidence to substantiate the charges against the accused. This includes the CCTV camera footage, as well as the recovery of the alleged weapon used in the offense, he noted.

Previously, on July 1, the court had taken cognizance of the Delhi Police’s extensive 640-page chargesheet filed in the case.

The disturbing murder was captured on CCTV footage, revealing the assailant thrusting a knife into the victim no less than 20 times, all while numerous people passed by, yet none intervened to save her. The victim had sustained 34 injury marks on her body, and her skull had been severely shattered, as confirmed by the police.
