A Delhi Court on Friday reserved its order for November 25 on the quantum of punishment for individuals convicted in the 2008 killing of TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan.
Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Ravindra Kumar Pandey made this decision after concluding the sentencing arguments.
The court had previously adjourned the matter on November 7, citing incomplete verification of affidavits submitted by the convicts. However, the judge accepted the pre-sentence report filed by the probationary officer.
On October 18, Ravi Kapoor, Amit Shukla, Baljeet Malik, and Ajay Kumar were convicted under Indian Penal Code section 302 (murder) and provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
Soumya Vishwanathan, employed with a prominent English news channel, was fatally shot on September 30, 2008, on Nelson Mandela Marg in south Delhi while returning home from work. The police attributed the motive to robbery.
