Mumbai Police Forms SIT to Investigate Sushant Singh Rajput’s Ex-Manager Disha Salian’s Death

Disha Salian

Mumbai Police on Tuesday formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the death of Disha Salian, the ex-manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Senior Inspector Chimaji Adhav from Malvani police station will lead the investigation, as stated by an official. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ajay Bansal, will oversee the probe.

Disha Salian, aged 28, allegedly died by suicide, jumping from a high-rise building in Mumbai on June 8, 2020, according to the police.

The circumstances surrounding Salian’s death prompted political controversies in the state, with the then-opposition BJP accusing the previous MVA government of suppressing the matter. In the previous winter session, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, a BJP member, had announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into Salian’s death.

Some leaders have raised doubts about the nature of Salian’s demise, suggesting murder, and attempting to implicate MLA Aaditya Thackeray, the son of Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, in the case.

Last week, BJP MLC Pravin Darekar emphasized the long-standing demand for an SIT in the case, stating that it would help clarify doubts. Another BJP MLC, Prasad Lad, echoed the sentiment, expressing the belief that an SIT investigation would provide clarity on Salian’s case.

In response to queries about the SIT probe into Salian’s death, Uddhav Thackeray, the Sena (UBT) leader, informed reporters that he had no official information about such an order. He mentioned that if there were any official developments, the information would be disclosed accordingly. Thackeray also indicated a willingness to counter any false allegations with accurate information if made against them.
