Days after actor Mansoor Ali Khan announced his intention to file a defamation case against Trisha Krishnan, Chiranjeevi, and Khushboo Sundar, the Madras High Court has denied him permission to proceed with the lawsuit.
Additionally, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Mansoor Ali Khan, characterizing his defamation suit as a “publicity stunt.”
The controversy between Trisha Krishnan and Mansoor Ali Khan gained attention when the latter made sexist remarks about her.
Mansoor Ali Khan faced criticism for his comments regarding not engaging in a ‘bedroom scene’ with Trisha.
The Madras High Court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him and directed the actor to deposit the amount with the Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai.
The court emphasized that the reactions of Trisha and the other actors to Mansoor Ali Khan’s statement were in line with what “any normal person would have” done.
On December 12, Justice N Sathish Kumar reprimanded Mansoor Ali Khan for his sexist comments against Trisha, stating that actors, being perceived as role models, should know how to behave in public.
During a press conference, Mansoor Ali Khan claimed that he missed the opportunity to perform a ‘bedroom scene’ with Trisha, leading to condemnation of his speech.
Following the backlash, Mansoor issued a statement in Tamil, apologizing to Trisha.
However, he later filed a defamation case against her, Chiranjeevi, and Khushboo Sundar.
Several industry celebrities, including Lokesh Kanagaraj and Karthik Subbaraj, expressed support for Trisha and Chiranjeevi, condemning Mansoor Ali Khan’s remarks.
They emphasized that such comments are not only offensive to artists but to every woman.
