A contempt petition has been filed in the Rajasthan High Court against the chief secretary of the Rajasthan government and the supervisor of Ramniwas Garden for permitting private individuals to arrange a concert at the venue, thereby breaching the court’s directives.
The scheduled concert, featuring singer Kailash Kher, is planned to take place in front of the iconic Albert Hall at Ramniwas Garden on January 15, organized by the Srishtivinayak Foundation.
Shankar Gurjar, the petitioner, filed the plea in the high court through advocates A K Jain and Aditya Jain on Tuesday.
A K Jain highlighted that granting permission for private entities to organize events violates the high court’s guidelines established in 2008. Despite the court’s prohibition of public functions at Ramniwas Garden in 1993, permissions were granted until 2008 in line with the court’s guidelines. In 2008, a division bench of the court discontinued the practice of permitting private parties, but the state government continued to allow such events.
According to A K Jain, government-sponsored functions at Ramniwas Garden do not require explicit permission; however, authorizing private individuals to host a concert is deemed unlawful and contravenes the court’s established guidelines.
