SC Denies Night Hearing: Third Setback for Kejriwal in Single Day

On Thursday night, the Supreme Court refused an urgent hearing on a plea challenging the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi liquor scam case. Kejriwal was arrested on Thursday evening by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a case related to money laundering linked to the excise policy. It was the Third Big Setback to Arvind Kejriwal in a single day.
Sources told the Daily Gaurdian that the top Court will likely to hear the matter Friday.

Prior to this a fast-paced developments occurred,  a 10-member ED team led by an additional director reached his official residence on Flagstaff Road in Civil Lines in the national capital soon after the high court order and carried out searches. He was arrested more than two hours after the ED team arrived at his residence, officials said.

They said the federal agency later took Kejriwal to its office in central Delhi. This is the 16th arrest in the case by the ED.

Earlier, Kejriwal had repeatedly refused to appear before the ED in response to these summons, terming them illegal.
It is also said that before Arvind Kejriwal, all the people whom ED called for questioning have been arrested. Among those arrested, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are still in jail.
