On April 27th, a man received three texts that read that ₹50 lakh, ₹50 lakh, and ₹10,000 were being transferred from his bank’s current account. The victim, whose name was Harsh, acted promptly, and within minutes, he contacted the bank and called the helpline number 1930 to raise a complaint regarding the unauthorized transactions. And within 25 minutes of this call, all the money was put on hold as per the officials from TSCSB, i.e., the Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau.
1930 is the Cyber Crime Helpline, running across all the states and union territories of India, and this helpline was launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2021.
Harsh’s swift action in contacting the bank and reaching out to the Cyber Crime Helpline undoubtedly saved him from a substantial financial loss. This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of vigilance and due diligence in safeguarding oneself against cyber threats. In today’s interconnected world, where technology facilitates both convenience and vulnerability, it is imperative for individuals to remain vigilant and proactive in protecting their assets and personal information. By staying informed, practicing safe online habits, and promptly reporting any suspicious activity, we can collectively combat cybercrime and ensure a safer digital environment for all. Remember, a moment of diligence can save a lifetime of regret.
