The Supreme Court will conduct a special Lok Adalat from July 29 to August 3, aimed at facilitating amicable resolutions for suitable pending cases.
This special Lok Adalat coincides with the apex court’s 75th year since its establishment on January 26, 1950, with the advent of the Constitution.
According to a statement released by the Supreme Court, Lok Adalats play a crucial role in the country’s judicial system by promoting alternative dispute resolution to expedite and foster friendly settlements.
“In its 75th year, the Supreme Court of India will organize a Special Lok Adalat from July 29, 2024, to August 3, 2024, to facilitate amicable resolutions of appropriate pending cases,” the statement reads.
The court’s initiative to organize the Lok Adalat underscores its commitment to delivering accessible and efficient justice to all segments of society. The statement specified that cases pending before the apex court, encompassing matters such as matrimonial disputes, property disputes, motor accident claims, land acquisition disputes, compensation issues, and service and labor disputes, will be taken up to ensure prompt disposal.
