U’khand HC Seeks State Govt Response on Pithoragarh Hospital’s Inadequate Facilities

Pithoragarh Hospital

The Uttarakhand High Court has directed the state government to respond within three weeks to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging inadequate facilities at Pithoragarh Base Hospital.

A bench comprising Justice Manoj Tiwari and Justice Pankaj Purohit reviewed the case presented by Rajesh Pandey, a resident of Pithoragarh.

The PIL highlighted several issues at the hospital, including a shortage of doctors and insufficient basic facilities.

These deficiencies often lead to pregnant women and other critically ill patients being referred to higher care centres. During the court proceedings, Pandey cited instances where pregnant women delivered babies in ambulances en route to referral centres. He also emphasized that poor individuals from remote areas struggle to receive necessary medical treatment at the hospital.
