The Police have recently filed an FIR against a senior Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation Officer in Maharashtra’s Thane district for allegedly sexually harassing a junior staff member.

According to the official at the central police station of Ulhasnagar, the 42-year-old female clerk reported that the 46-year-old accused would frequently call her to his cabin, touch her inappropriately, and request sexual favors. These incidents reportedly occurred at the corporation office between April 2022 & July 2023.

The FIR, filed on Tuesday, charges the officer under sections 354 (assault or use of criminal force to outrage a woman’s modesty), 354 (a) (sexual harassment), and 509 (words, gestures, or acts intended to insult a woman’s modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The investigation is ongoing.

The victim explained to the police that she had been unable to file the complaint earlier due to her father’s illness, as he was battling cancer and required her full attention.
