PM Modi’s Degree Remark: SC Upholds Summons Against Kejriwal In Gujarat

PM Modi's Degree Remark

In a setback for Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, the Supreme Court on Monday declined to intervene in the summons issued to him in a defamation case filed by Gujarat University.

The case centers on alleged comments made by Kejriwal regarding the educational qualifications of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A bench comprising of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti dismissed Kejriwal’s Special Leave Petition.

The bench emphasized its decision to remain consistent, referencing a previous case where another AAP leader, Sanjay Singh, had his plea dismissed.

Both Kejriwal and Singh challenged the summons in the Gujarat High Court, as well as the subsequent dismissal of their revision pleas by the sessions court.

The Supreme Court’s refusal to interfere marks a significant moment in the ongoing legal battle surrounding statements made about the Prime Minister’s education.
