In a significant update regarding the Baba Siddique murder case, the accused, Amit Hisamsing Kumar, on Thursday has been remanded into the custody of the Mumbai Crime Branch until November 4, as ordered by the court.
During his interrogation, Kumar revealed he was fully aware of the murder conspiracy. He stated that Zeeshan Akhtar, the 4th accused, informed him that someone would deposit money into his account, which he was then supposed to withdraw and hand over to Akhtar, according to the Mumbai police.
Amit Hisamsing Kumar, 29, hails from Kaithal district in Haryana. His involvement in the case has been confirmed by law enforcement, with charges filed under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 103(1), 109, 125, 3(5), 336(2), 337, and 61(2).
Additionally, he faces charges under sections 3, 5, 25, and 27 of the Arms Act, as well as sections 37 and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, in connection with the Nirmal Nagar firing incident.
Kumar’s arrest on Wednesday represents the eleventh apprehension related to the murder of the NCP leader. This case has revealed troubling details about the shooters’ preparations prior to the attack.
According to Mumbai Police, the shooters participated in at least five practice sessions to hone their skills. These sessions took place in a forest area along the Karjat-Khopoli road, where they practiced their marksmanship by firing at a tree near Palasadari village, located close to a waterfall.
Police reports indicate that during these practice runs, the shooters fired between five and ten rounds at the target tree throughout September. The meticulous planning highlights the premeditated nature of the attack against Baba Siddique, who was tragically shot outside his office in Nirmal Nagar, suffering two gunshot wounds to the chest.
After the incident, he was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai for emergency treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries on October 12.
As investigations continue, the Mumbai Crime Branch is delving deeper into the conspiracy, aiming to uncover further details about the network involved in this shocking crime.
