CAQM Files Status Report In SC Ahead Of Crucial Hearing On Delhi Pollution

Air pollution in Delhi

Ahead of crucial hearing over Delhi air pollution menace, the Commission for Air Quality Management has submitted a status report in the Supreme Court, outlining measures taken to address air pollution in Delhi-NCR.

The CAQM informed the court that it has made guidelines to enable prompt action against any violations by concerned authorities or states.

The commission informed that the Ministry of Law and Justice has reviewed these proposed regulations, and the draft rules are set to be officially notified within this week.

In addition to these regulations, CAQM also stated that efforts are underway to introduce supplementary laws as required.

In an effort to reduce stubble burning practices, the Ministry of Agriculture is also working alongside the commission to provide incentives to farmers, CAQM informed.

In a positive trend in addressing seasonal pollution in the region, the report highlighted that stubble burning cases in Punjab and Haryana have shown a decline compared to previous years.

The top court is scheduled to hear the case on Monday.

As the air quality in Delhi-NCR worsens, as per the reports, nearly 60,000 vehicles and over 7,500 construction sites were fined.
