SCBA To Boycott Inauguration Of CJI Proposed Museum

SCBA

The Supreme Court Bar Association has decided to boycott the inauguration of the museum proposed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, scheduled for November 7.

The SCBA opposes the conversion of the judges’ library space into a museum and instead demanded that the area be designated for a lawyers’ library and lounge.

Additionally, the SCBA insists that the Bar be consulted before any such decisions are made.

Earlier also, SCBA raised concerns over the alterations is the redesign of the iconic ‘Lady Justice’. SCBA questioned the motivations behind these changes, urging the Court to reconsider some of its recent decisions.

The old statue depicted a blindfolded woman and a sword, however, the new statue features her with open eyes and the constitution in place of the sword.

The bar association had taken exception to this move and had written a strongly-worded letter to outgoing CJI Chandrachud.
