OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Faces Sexual Abuse Lawsuit From Sister, Calls Allegations ‘Untrue’

Sam Altman

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is facing a lawsuit filed by his sister, Annie Altman, accusing him of sexual abuse.

The lawsuit, submitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, alleges that the abuse occurred between 1997 and 2006, beginning when Annie was 3 years old and Sam was 12.

According to the filing, the abuse allegedly took place multiple times a week over nine years at their family home in Clayton, Missouri. The accusations detail acts starting with oral sex and escalating to penetration. Annie claims to have suffered long-term emotional trauma, including severe depression and psychological distress, which she fears will have lasting effects on her well-being.

This marks the first time Annie has taken legal action, despite previously sharing similar allegations on social media platforms like X. She is being represented by Ryan Mahoney, a lawyer specializing in sexual assault cases. The lawsuit demands a jury trial and seeks damages exceeding $75,000.

In response to the lawsuit, Sam Altman, along with his mother Connie and brothers Max and Jack, released a statement on X categorically denying the accusations. They described Annie’s claims as “completely false” and expressed concern for her mental health, referencing her ongoing struggles over the years.

The statement further elaborated on the family’s long-standing support for Annie, including financial assistance and access to medical care. However, they expressed frustration, noting that despite their efforts, Annie has continued to make demands and levy accusations against them.

The legal case brings renewed attention to an ongoing family conflict. The Altman family highlighted the emotional toll it has taken on them and voiced their hope that Annie would seek conventional treatment for her issues.

As the lawsuit proceeds, the court will evaluate the evidence presented. While a jury trial has been requested, no official timeline has been set. Meanwhile, the Altman family has called for empathy and understanding, expressing hope that Annie can find peace and stability.

This case touches on sensitive issues, including family discord, mental health challenges, and public scrutiny. Given Sam Altman’s high-profile position in the tech world, the lawsuit is expected to draw widespread attention from both legal experts and industry watchers.
