Delhi HC issues notice to Shashi Tharoor on Delhi Police plea seeking condonation of delay in filing review petition in Sunanda murder case
The Delhi high court on Thursday issued notice to Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on the plea by Delhi police seeking the condonation of delay in filing a revision petition challenging the clean chit given to him (Shashi Tharoor) in connection with the mysterious death of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.
” First we will decide the condonation of delay”, the Court observed
Senior Advocate Vikas Pahwa appears for Shashi Tharoor and
submited that the trial court order has been challenged after a delay of about 15 months. The trial court was passed in August 2021.
Pahwa also argued that as per Chapter 17 of Delhi High Court Rules, copy of the record in criminal revisions are not provided to strangers to the case.
The petitioner counsel submits that he has no objection to the same and copy of the plea and document shall not be supplied to any person who are not party to the case, the court said. The matter will now be heard on February 7.
In August 2021, a trial court had discharged Tharoor from charges of abetment to suicide of his wife, while saying that there was no material against the legislator, much less any positive act to instigate or aid her in committing suicide, assuming it as the cause of death.
