Paras Hospital Firing Case: Four Accused Sent To Patna On Transit Remand

Paras Hospital Firing Case

In a major breakthrough in the murder of criminal Chandan Mishra, who was gunned down inside Patna’s Paras Hospital, four suspects arrested in Kolkata are being sent to Bihar on Monday after receiving transit remand from Alipore Court.

Chandan Mishra Shot Dead During Hospital Stay

Chandan Mishra, a prisoner out on parole for medical treatment, was fatally shot on July 17 inside Paras Hospital in Patna. According to police, unidentified gunmen entered the hospital and opened fire, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene.

Following the incident, Patna Police launched a widespread investigation, conducting raids and interrogating several individuals across multiple locations.

Accused Nabbed In Kolkata With STF’s Help

The primary accused, Taushif alias Badshah, was tracked down and arrested in Kolkata. He was caught during a joint operation involving Bihar Police, Kolkata Police, and the Kolkata Special Task Force (STF). Three others — Nishu Khan, Harsh, and Bheem — were also taken into custody from Kolkata for their suspected roles in the attack.

“All four of the accused have been arrested in Kolkata in connection with the murder of Chandan Mishra in a Patna hospital,” said Patna SSP Kartikey K Sharma. “The other four are still absconding and will be arrested soon. The investigation is underway.”

Criminal Past Of The Suspects

Authorities confirmed that Taushif has a criminal record with cases under the NDPS Act, Arms Act, and attempted murder. Nishu Khan, another key suspect, is also facing past charges including extortion and illegal possession of arms.

Nishu Khan’s Defense

While being escorted to Alipore Court, Nishu Khan addressed the media, denying knowledge of the murder plan.

“I did not know anything about murder plotting. I came here with my girlfriend for my spinal surgery, as in 2023, I was shot due to a land-related fight issue and became bedridden. Taushif is my brother; he told me Sheru said to shoot Chandan. I don’t know why he shot him. After the gunfire incident, he came to me and told me—I didn’t know how to react or what to do… Later on, STF came and raided where I was staying. They arrested me, my nursing staff, caretaker, and later my girlfriend too.”

Despite his statement, police say initial findings suggest that the murder plot was planned at Nishu Khan’s residence and executed by Taushif.

Police Praise Kolkata Coordination

SSP Sharma credited Kolkata Police and the STF for their swift and effective collaboration in the case.

“The main shooter, Tausif, was arrested in Kolkata. Kolkata Police and Kolkata STF gave us very commendable support, and due to that support, Tausif was arrested in Kolkata. Along with Tausif, 3 other people were also found there who had a role in this conspiracy.”

Investigation Continues

The arrested suspects are being transported to Patna under legal procedures. Police continue to question others linked to the murder, and a search is underway for the remaining accused.

Chandan Mishra, the victim, had a long-standing criminal record with several murder cases against him. Investigators believe his killing was orchestrated by a rival gang.
