The Supreme Court refused to hear a petition demanding an SIT probe into the death of people after drinking spurious liquor in Chhapra, Bihar. The Supreme Court asked the petitioner to approach the High Court regarding the matter.
The Supreme court in its order said that the plea prays for SIT, compensation and directions to stop trade of illegal liquor, all issues can be looked into by the HC under article 226. Petitioner under liberty to move HC to seek relief. It is appropriate this is considered by HC.
The petition, filed by NGO Aryavarta Mahasabha Foundation, has demanded formation of SIT for investigation and proper compensation to the victims.
The petitioner sought a national action plan to control the manufacture, trade and sale of illegal liquor across the country.
Mashrak and Isuapur police station area of Chhapra district of Bihar, more than 30 people have lost their lives due to spurious liquor in last year’s December.
