Uttarakhand Land Subsidiance : Supreme Court to Hear Plea on January 16

The Supreme Court will hear on January 16 the petition filed on the land tragedy in Joshimath, Uttarakhand. On Tuesday, the counsel for the petitioner mentioned his plea before Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and requested for an early hearing, on which CJI said that there is also an elected government there, however CJI said that he would hear the matter on January 16.

On Saturday a PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand.

It is the result of the planned destruction of Himalayan regions in the name of development. Today, the lives of thousands of people in Joshimath, which is the main centre of Indian culture, is in danger,” said Jagadguru Shankaracharya in his petition.
