A Delhi court has recently extended the police custody of Lawrence Bishnoi for 3 days in an extortion case.

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police requested the extension to enable the confrontation of Bishnoi with co-accused Akshay, aka Balaji, in Ganganagar, Rajasthan. Akshay is alleged to have supplied firearms and ammunition that were used to intimidate the victim in the present case.

Meanwhile, Metropolitan Magistrate Himanshu Tanwar’s court approved the jail administration’s plea to transfer Bishnoi to Bathinda jail upon the conclusion of his police remand.

Simultaneously, the Metropolitan Magistrate Himanshu Tanwar court approved the jail administration’s plea to transfer Bishnoi to Bathinda jail upon the conclusion of his police remand.

In its application submitted, the administration expressed concerns that the law & order situation may be compromised if Bishnoi remains confined in the Delhi prison.

Last month, Bishnoi was moved from Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Central Jail to Mandoli Jail. This relocation occurred following the fatal stabbing of gangster Tillu Tajpuriya, who sustained 94 wounds, by rival inmates at Tihal Jail.

During the remand hearing, the Delhi Police emphasized that Akshay not only provided arms & ammunition in the present case but also facilitated the accommodation of the accused Hiren, and two juvenile CCLs (Child in Conflict with law) who were allegedly involved in the commission of the crime under investigation.
