ISRO Espionage: SC asks Kerala High Court to Consider Fresh Bail Plea

The Supreme Court on Friday asked Kerala High court to consider afresh anticipatory bail pleas granted to four persons including former Director-General of Police (DGP), in a case relating to alleged framing of scientist Nambi Narayanan in the 1994 ISRO espionage.

Suprem court while setting aside Kerala High court’s order has asked HC to decide pleas within 4 weeks from today. Accused will not be arrested for a period of 5 weeks and till matter is decided by HC, subject to them cooperating in investigation, the court added

The accused in the case include former Kerala DGP Siby Mathews and three others.

On November 28, the Supreme Court had reserved for orders a series of appeals filed by the CBI challenging anticipatory bail granted to former police officers accused of being part of a conspiracy in an espionage case in 1994.

Mathews was named as one of the accused for framing Nambi Narayanan, a scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 1994.
