NIA Gets Seigh of Relief as Delhi High Court Dismisses Plea of Abubacker Ex Chairman of PFI

The Delhi High Court on Monday rejected plea of Former PFI Chairman E Abubacker for house arrest in view of his medical health condition.

During the hearing Justice Mridul led bench observed that “When you are asking for medical bail, why should we send you to your house? We will send you to hospital,”.

The Delhi High court in its order said that the medical superintendent shall file the advise and treatment prescribed by the Onco Surgery department of AIIMS on the next date of hearing,”.

The Delhi high court posted hearing for January 6 for further hearing.

On December 14 the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had filed its status report on the plea of Former PFI chairman E Abu Becker seeking treatment.

The NIA submitted that the agency is not opposing medical treatment to the petitioner. He also said that the probe into the matter is in progress.

The bench had said, “The point is the accused is seriously unwell. Eventually, we will have to consider whether AIIMS has to be directed to constitute a medical board and let this court know which is the best way possible.

The Delhi high court said that it would consider the appeal for medical treatment. For regular bail, the petitioner may approach the trial court.

On November 30, the High court directed the NIA to file a status report on the plea of Abu Becker.
