A complaint has been filed against former Congress President Rahul Gandhi in a Lucknow court. The complainant is alleged that during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi allegedly made derogatory remarks against Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in Maharashtra.
The Lucknow’s Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Ambrish Kumar Srivastava on Friday directed the complainant to present his evidence under Section 200 of the CrPC.
However, the court refused to direct the police to investigate the matter and registered it as a complaint. The court said after recording the testimony of the complainant and his witnesses, the court will decide whether or not to take cognizance of the offenses and issue summons to Rahul Gandhi. The court will next hear the matter on January 9.
The Complainant Nripendra Pandey had filed an application in the court under Section 156(3) of the CrPC, seeking registration of an FIR against Rahul Gandhi. Nripendra Pandey alleged in his petition that Rahul Gandhi insulted Savarkar ji by using indecent words. It is alleged that during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi said in a public forum in Maharashtra that Veer Savarkar had helped the British. He (Savarkar) betrayed many leaders including Mahatma Gandhi.
