AAP Allots New Headquarter In Lutyens Area Following Delhi HC Order

AAP Headquarter

The Central Government has assigned a new office place to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) following the orders of the Delhi High Court.

According to AAP, Bungalow No. 1, Ravi Shankar Shukla Lane, New Delhi will be the new headquarter of Aam Aadmi party.

In June, the Delhi High Court allowed the AAP to use housing unit from the general pool till a permanent address is assigned for construction of its office.

The court had ordered the Centre to decide AAP’s representation within 42 days. According to the order of Apex Court, AAP has to empty or move out from its current party headquarter. This came after the apex court observed that AAP’s party headquarter stands on land alotted for expansion of Delhi High Court.

Senior Advocate Rahul Mehra appearing for AAP had informed the high court that a national party is entitled to a temporary workspace until the land is assigned to it for construction of a permanent office.

Justice Subramonium Prasad of Delhi High Court held that mere pressure or non-availability is not a valid reason to dismiss AAP’s petition. The court had issued orders to the Centre to decide AAP’s representation for a short term accommodation within 42 days by way of a reasoned order.

The AAP had registered a petition seeking orders from high court to Centre to assign suitable place to it being a recognised political party for construction of its offices.
