Bail Granted To SDPI Office Bearers: Court Says No Proof Of Involving In Unlawful Activities

The Delhi Court has granted bail, to SDPI office bearers Israr Ali Khan and Mohammad Shamoon by instructing them to report to SHO every fortnight. Court also mentioned that they will not leave the country without permission.
By the available information regarding this matter, the Delhi police arrested Israr Ali Khan, president of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) Delhi state, and the former media head of Popular Front of India (PFI) Mohammad Shamoon on 5th October 2022, under sections 120B, 153Aof IPC, and 10/13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).
A Delhi court granted bail to Israr Ali Khan and Mohammad Shamoon, saying, “nothing to show their involvement in unlawful activity” (UAPA).
Both the accused person, Israr Ali Khan, and Mohammad Shamoon was arrested, with the allegation that in order to take revenge, on the ban on PFI, they raised slogans to instigate the emotions of the sympathizers, and common people for the purpose of anti-national activities.
Additional Sessions Judge Sanjay Khanagwal said there is nothing on record to “show that the accused persons were involved in any such kind of unlawful activity propagating the agenda of PFI”. And the court also noted that the accused had no previous criminal history or involvement in any terrorist activities.
While granting bail, the Court asked both accused, Israr Ali Khan and Mohammad Shamoon, to report to the SHO every fortnight, to join the ongoing investigation as and when directed by the investigating officer, not to leave the country as well as Delhi without permission.
