Cattle Smuggling Case: Delhi Court Rejects Bail Application Of TMC Leader’s CA

The Delhi court has recently rejected the bail plea of Manish Kothari, chartered accountant of TMC leader, in a money laundering case involving cattle smuggling across the India-Bangladesh border.

Special Judge Raghubir Singh, in an order issued on June 9, denied bail to Kothari, stating that the appropriate stage for granting bail had not been reached.

Kothari applied for regular bail, arguing that his custody was no longer necessary for the case.

The Enforcement Directorate alleges that Kothari aided Mondal, the TMC’s Birbhum district president, who is believed to have close ties with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in diverting funds obtained from the cattle smuggling operation through shell companies.

Mondal is also currently in judicial custody.
