Court Demands CCTV Footage In Alleged Misbehavior With Former Deputy CM Sisodia, Next Hearing On August 25

Manish Sisodia, the main suspect in Delhi’s liquor scam, appeared physically at Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi today on Wednesday.

A few days ago during a previous court appearance, Manish Sisodia lodged a complaint against some policemen, alleging misbehavior. As a result, the court has asked the control room to provide CCTV footage in a pen drive. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for August 25. However, the police stated that Sisodia was not mistreated; instead, they ensured his prompt seating in the car to prioritize his safety.

On a previous court appearance on May 23, a video of the incident surfaced, leading Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi Marlena to question whether the police were allowed to treat Manish Sisodia in such a manner.

During today’s court appearance at Rouse Avenue Court, strict security measures were implemented, and a video of the event has been made available. The investigation into Delhi’s Excise Policy scam is being carried out separately by both the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate. Sisodia was first arrested by the CBI and later by the ED.

Since February 26, Manish Sisodia has remained in custody without being granted bail. After the Delhi High Court rejected his bail plea, he approached the Supreme Court, which issued a notice to the CBI and ED regarding his plea. The matter is scheduled to be heard on July 28. On July 10, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Sisodia, presented the case before Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, requesting an expedited hearing, which the Supreme Court accepted.
