The Delhi Court on Thursday awarded a sum of ₹ 5 lakh as compensation to the mother of a 15-year-old boy who got electrocuted more than 12 years ago, saying that the negligence was on the part of BSES Yamuna Power Ltd in maintaining electric wires.
The Court heard a lawsuit filed under the Fatal Accident Act against the defendants, BSES Yamuna and Reliance General Insurance Company, demanding recovery of Rs 5 lakh as compensation and damages for the death of the 15-years old by electrocution.
According to the plaintiff, Maya Devi, his mother claims that on September 11, 2010, her son died after coming into touch with a snapped live electricity line at Jawahar Nagar on Main Loni Road. In an order that was issued on January 21, Additional District Judge Kishor Kumar stated, “…Suit of the Plaintiff is now ordered for an amount of Rs 5 lakh to be recovered from the defendants, with the expense of the suit.” The court noted that the cause of death was shock due to electrocution as stated in the post-mortem report.
