A Delhi Court has recently extended the police custody of gangster Vikram Barar for the next 3 days.

Also, the court directed the National Investigation Agency to ensure proper medical treatment.

Last week, Vikram Barar was deported from the United Arab Emirates and arrested by the NIA due to his close association with incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Special Judge Shailender Malik of the Patiala House Court granted an extension of the remand for Vikramjeet Singh, aka Babbu or Vikram Barar, for the ensuing 3 days.
During the court proceedings, the accused was represented by advocate Suresh Sisodia.

Mr. Sisodia informed the court that the accused complained of certain health issues, prompting the court to direct the agency to provide him with appropriate medical attention.

He was produced before the court by the NIA after the expiry of the seven-day remand.

He was arrested on July 25, 2023, under sections pertaining to extortion, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and the Arms Act. The case had been registered in 2022.

In support of their request for a 3-day extension of the remand, the agency submitted that during the interrogation, Vikram Barar disclosed his affiliation with Lawrence Bishnoi’s criminal Syndicate gang.

He disclosed about the planning and conspiracy hatched by him along with the criminal gang members. Furthermore, he explained how he facilitated and supported their criminal activities in the UAE.

The NIA stated that Vikram Barar possesses crucial information about the nexus of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, which needs to be unearthed during the course of the investigation.

Further, it includes that he also knowledge of the gang’s operations spanning multiple countries, including its activities in Dubai, where some of his associates are still actively operating.

Notably, a charge sheet was filed against 14 accused individuals, including Lawrence Bishnoi, Kala Jathedi, and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, on March 24, 2023.
