Delhi Court Frames Charges Against 7 Accused in Kanjawala Hit and Drag Case

A sessions court in Delhi on Thursday Framed charges against seven accused in a tragic hit-and-Drag case. The incident involved a 20-year-old woman who lost her life after being dragged under a car on New Year’s Day in the national capital.

Additional Sessions Judge Neeraj Gaur has directed the framing of charges against four individuals Amit Khanna, Krishan, Manoj Mittal, and Mithun who were in the offending car. These charges include IPC sections 302 (murder), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of the offense or giving false information to screen the offender), and 212 (harboring offender). Amit Khanna also faces a charge of negligent driving.

Further, while discharging 3 other co-accused Ashutosh Bhardwaj, Ankush, and Deepak Khanna of the charge of criminal conspiracy, the court ordered the framing of charges against them under IPC sections 182, 34, 201, and 212.

On January 2, the police arrested Deepak Khanna, Amit Khanna, Krishan, Mithun, and Manoj Mittal. Co-accused Ashutosh Bhardwaj and Ankush were later granted bail by a metropolitan magistrate’s court, and Deepak Khanna was also granted relief by the present court on May 13.

The Delhi police had filed an 800-page charge sheet against all seven accused on April 1, and the case was subsequently transferred to the sessions court for further proceedings.
