The bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma gave directions to the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Hospital on the petition of NGO Social Jurists. The petitioner Ashok Aggarwal stated that the treatment should be given free of cost according to Centre scheme.
The expedition of 25% in the Out Patient Department (OPD) and a 10% in the In-Patient Department (IPD). Although the hospital counsel stated that free treatment is being given to the poor people as per the directions of the government but the petitioner said that free treatment has not being provided since last two decades to the indigents.
While deciding the bench to disposed of the matter directed by the Hospital Administration for continuing the treatment provided for the poor. NGO Social Jurists, that is represented by Advocate Ashok Aggarwal, moved earlier to the Delhi High Court in 2018 claiming that the respondent of the hospital has made irrelevant profits during last 2 decades by not delivering free treatments to EWS patients.
The plea sought government’s direction to recover the amount stated from the hospital of the respondent.
Advocate Ashok Aggarwal asserted that however it’s a long battle to fight for but that’s a great victory for the poor patients.
