The Delhi High Court on Tuesday declined to intervene in a ruling that directed the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) to revise the results of CLAT-2025 due to errors in the answer key.
A bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela heard an appeal from the consortium challenging the decision of a single judge. The bench agreed with the single judge’s assessment regarding two specific questions in the test and found no grounds for an interim order.
“The single judge examined two questions carefully… Prima facie we concur with the said view,” the court said, clarifying that the consortium could proceed with declaring the results in line with the earlier order.
On December 20, the single judge had ruled in favor of a CLAT aspirant who had challenged the answer key published by the consortium on December 7. The applicant contended that the answers to certain questions were incorrect and sought correction. The judge deemed the errors “demonstrably clear,” emphasizing that ignoring them would lead to injustice.
This decision further solidified the course of action to correct the answer key and adjust the results accordingly.
The matter was adjourned until January 7, 2025.
