The Delhi High Court has recently implemented a significant reshuffle of judicial officers in its subordinate courts, including the judge overseeing the cancellation report filed by the Delhi Police.
The case was of sexual harassment involving former BJP MP and ex-Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
In total, 233 judicial officers in the Delhi Judicial Services have received new postings, while 23 officers in the Delhi Higher Judicial Service have also been reassigned. The registrar general of the high court announced these transfers on Friday, effective immediately.
Special Judge (POCSO) Chhavi Kapoor, who was handling the case against Brij Bhushan Singh, has been moved to the Rouse Avenue court as a special judge. She had previously reserved an order regarding the police report in this matter. In her place, Additional Sessions Judge Gomti Manocha will now preside over the case.
Additionally, Judge Jitendra Singh has been transferred to Rouse Avenue to fill the position left vacant by the retirement of Special Judge Rakesh Syal.
Judge Syal was managing a special court that dealt with cases against lawmakers, including the alleged Delhi excise policy scam involving former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Waqf board scam case against AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, and a case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots involving Congress leader Jagdish Tytler.
Alongside these transfers, around 70 new judicial officers have been inducted into various districts following the completion of their training.
The notification emphasized that these postings and transfers were made by the Chief Justice and the Honorable Judges of the Delhi High Court, taking effect immediately.
A similar notification was issued for the Delhi Higher Judicial Service as well.
