Delhi HC Seeks Police Reply On Actor Rajpal Yadav’s Plea To Travel To Dubai

The Delhi High Court on Friday sought responses from the city police and Murli Projects Private Limited on an application filed by actor Rajpal Yadav, who has sought permission to travel to Dubai to attend a Diwali programme as part of a pending cheque-bounce case.

Justice Ravinder Dudeja issued notices to the respondents and listed the matter for further hearing on October 14.

Actor Invited As Guest Of Honour

During the hearing, Yadav’s counsel informed the court that the actor had been invited by Bihari Global Connect, a Dubai-based company, to participate in its Diwali celebrations as a guest of honour.

The plea stated that Yadav intends to travel from October 17 to 20 for the event and will return immediately thereafter.

The application was moved in connection with a pending revision petition before the High Court, where Yadav has challenged his conviction in a cheque-bounce case filed by Murli Projects Private Limited.

The actor has previously been granted permission by the High Court to travel abroad on several occasions.

In June 2023, the court had temporarily suspended Yadav’s conviction, directing him to take “sincere and genuine measures” to explore a settlement with the complainant.

At that time, Yadav’s lawyer told the court that the disputed transaction was a genuine financing arrangement for a film project that later failed commercially, leading to significant financial loss.

The counsel also noted that the actor had already served around three months in jail in connection with related civil execution proceedings.

The matter is currently being heard at the Delhi High Court Mediation Centre, where both sides are exploring the possibility of an amicable settlement.

The court will now decide on October 14 whether to allow Yadav’s request to travel abroad for the Dubai Diwali event.
