Delhi HC Urges Lokayukta To Decide On Corruption Complaint Against AAP MLA

AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya

The Delhi High Court has recently instructed the Lokayukta to promptly address a corruption complaint filed against AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya, with the court recommending that the matter be resolved within 4 weeks.

The bench, consisting of Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, issued the order on Tuesday during the hearing of a petition requesting action on the complaint.

The petition, filed by an anti-corruption forum, refers to a complaint submitted to the Lokayukta on January 30, 2020. The complaint accuses Mohaniya of accepting bribes from residents of Sangam Vihar in exchange for access to water from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

It claims that Mohaniya’s aide collected money from locals and delivered it to the MLA. The petitioner also presented videos and other evidence to support allegations of corruption, as well as claims of negligence by government officials, including the Vice Chairman and Chairman of the DJB.

Additionally, the complaint alleges that residents were forced to pay both DJB officials and the MLA’s aide to use the public borewell installed by the Delhi government and to receive water from DJB tankers.
