Delhi’s Karkardooma Court on Saturday acquitted nine accused in a case related to Delhi violence,2020. The nine men were accused of looting and arson of a shop in Chaman Park area in North East Delhi on February 25, 2020.
The court said in the order that the only witness in the case of riots is a head constable but in any case the mere testimony that these people were part of the crowd cannot be sufficient. Additional Sessions Judge Pulastya Pramachala said, “I find that whatever allegations have been leveled against the 9 accused in this case have not been proved beyond doubt. Therefore, the accused are acquitted of all the charges leveled against them.
Mohd. Shahnawaz, Mohd. Shoaib, Azad, Ashraf Ali, Parvez, Mohd. Faisal and Rashid were booked under several different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including rioting in a case related to Delhi violence,2020.
