District Judge Reserves Order On Sukesh’s Plea For Case Transfer

The District Judge of Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday reserved an order on Sukesh Chandrasekar’s plea to transfer his case from one court to another.

This application stems from the ‘two leaves’ election symbol bribery case.

Sukesh Chandrasekar expressed a lack of faith in the current judge presiding over his money laundering case, as he is the only one charge-sheeted by the Enforcement Directorate.

District Judge (DJ) Anju Bajaj Chandna reserved the order after hearing arguments from Sukesh’s counsel and the ED’s Prosecutor.

The pronouncement of the order is scheduled for August 9.

Advocate Anant Malik, representing Sukesh Chandrasekar, asserted that his client lacks confidence in the current judge handling his case.

Additionally, the main case involving other accused has been stayed by the Supreme Court, and the High Court has also stayed the main case concerning Sukesh.

Advocate Anant Malik argued that, “the concerned judge was told that I went to HC in revision against her order and the next date was April 5, 2023, however, she said “I will do what I want”.

Advocate Malik argued in court that, “It was also stated that while recording witness statements, the judge used to teach the witnesses and warned them to state accordingly which is something very strange.”

The council also emphasized that Sukesh is the prime witness in the ongoing investigation against Satyender Jain and Arvind Kejriwal, and his case is politically motivated.

The accused sought to delay the proceedings as the trial is nearing completion.

ED’s counsel contended that 15 witnesses have already been examined and cross-examined, with only 5 witnesses remaining to be examined.

This case originated from a 2017 registration by the Crime Branch of Delhi police and revolves around allegations of bribery offered to influence the case related to the two leaves election symbol.
