Ex-Delhi HC Judge Justice JR Midha Joins NLU Delhi

Justice JR Midha, a former Delhi High Court judge, has joined National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) as a Professor of Practice.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Hon’ble Mr. Justice J.R. Midha, Former Judge of the Delhi High Court, as Professor of Practice at NLU Delhi.” “The University will benefit greatly from his expertise and experience in building research and academic capacity,” NLU Delhi stated on its website.

After retiring as a judge of the Delhi High Court in 2021, Justice Midha became a Professor at Galgotias University.

Justice Midha practiced law for over 26 years before being appointed to the bench in 2008. He also taught at the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University, from 1989 to 1992. He taught the Code of Civil Procedure, the Indian Evidence Act, the Transfer of Property Act, the Delhi Rent Control Act, the Limitation Act, the Arbitration Act, the Motor Vehicles Act, the Court Fees Act, the Suit Valuation Act, the Indian Registration Act, and the Indian Stamp Act.

Former judges are increasingly enrolling in law schools to give back to academia. UU Lalit, the former Chief Justice of India, has joined Jindal Global Law School as a Distinguished Jurist and Professor of Law & Justice. Justice Indira Banerjee, a retired Supreme Court judge, joined NUJS Kolkata as a Visiting Professor in January 2023.
