Govt Hospitals Have to Treat Every Patients Irrespective of Residence: Delhi High Court

LNJP

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday said during the hearing of a case that all citizens should get treatment in government hospitals in Delhi.

The court said that the hospital can not deny treatment to those coming from outside, they can not be forced to give the local voter ID card. The government hospital is for everyone, it added.

A Resident of Bihar accuses the LNJP hospital of discriminating against those coming from outside in Delhi. He claimed that the Free MRI facility is available only for local (Delhi) people. Due to not being a resident of here, he was given a very long date, while the people of Delhi get earliest date.

During the hearing, the counsel for the Delhi government denied that there was no any discrimination against people from outside Delhi in the hospital.

Delhi government’s advocate assured the court that MRI would be done in the hospital itself. Taking it on record, the Court has asked for MRI test of the petitioner’s knee to be done on 26th December.
