A bomb threat targeting the Delhi High Court was issued via email by an unidentified individual or group, Delhi police confirmed on Friday.
The alarming message, sent to court staff, triggered a security scare and forced the evacuation of the premises, causing significant disruption to ongoing proceedings.
The email, reportedly sent from the address kanimozhi.thevidiya@outlook.com, contained the subject line, “Pakistan Tamil Nadu collude for Holy Friday blasts. 3 bombs planted in judge room/court premises. Evacuate by 2pm.”
The message claimed that Pakistan’s involvement and local conspiracies were behind the threat, stating that three bombs had been planted in courtrooms and judges’ chambers.
It further added, “The assets within the Police have been sown since 2017, for this Holy Friday. As a sample, today’s blast in your Delhi High Court will clear the doubt of previous bluffs. Judge Chamber will detonate shortly after Mid-Day Islamic Prayers.”
The alarming and inflammatory content of the email raised concerns of terror threats and prompted swift action by security agencies.
Immediate Evacuation & Disruption
Following the alert, panic spread through the court complex. All benches of the Delhi High Court rose immediately, and lawyers, litigants, staff, and visitors were evacuated. Scenes of chaos unfolded as people rushed out of the premises in fear. Court proceedings were temporarily halted as security personnel secured the area and conducted thorough checks.
A Pattern Of Recent Threats
This incident is part of a growing trend of bomb threat hoaxes in Delhi. On September 9, both the Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) and the Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat received similar emails warning of possible explosions. Bomb squads were dispatched, but no explosives were found.
Earlier, on August 28, nearly 20 colleges, including Jesus and Mary College in Chanakyapuri, received bomb threats via email. Police later confirmed that the threats were hoaxes, likely carried out by individuals using VPN services to mask their identity.
Delhi Police has launched an inquiry into the latest threat and is working to trace the origin of the email. Preliminary findings suggest that the sender attempted to exploit existing security fears.
