Maliwal Assault Case: Delhi HC Dismisses Bibhav Kumar’s Plea Challenging Arrest

The Delhi High Court on Friday has dismissed a plea by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s close aide Bibhav Kumar challenging his arrest in connection with the alleged assault on AAP MP Swati Maliwal at the CM’s residence.

Justice Neena Bansal Krishna stated, “Petition dismissed.”

Kumar is currently in judicial custody, allegedly assaulted Maliwal on May 13 at Kejriwal’s official residence. He was arrested on May 18.

The FIR against Kumar, registered on May 16, includes charges under IPC provisions for criminal intimidation, destruction of evidence, assault or criminal force on a woman with the intent to disrobe, and attempted culpable homicide.

Previously, Kumar’s bail plea was rejected by both the trial court and the high court, and it is currently pending before the Supreme Court.
