Nikki Yadav Murder Case: Dwarka Court Extends Sahil Gehlot’s Police Detention By Two Days

Nikki Yadav Murder Case

Delhi’s Dwarka court on Monday granted Sahil Gehlot, who is accused of killing his girlfriend Nikki Yadav, a two-day extension to the police custody.

The remaining five co-accused in the case have been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate Samiksha Gupta.

The five co-accused includes Sahil’s father Virender Singh, his cousins Naveen and Ashish and his friends Lokesh and Amar.

Police had said the five co-accused were arrested after their roles in the killing of Yadav were ascertained.

They have been booked for alleged criminal conspiracy, hiding/destroying evidence, lying to the police and harbouring a criminal.

On February 14, 2023, Sahil Gehlot was arrested by the crime branch. He is accused of murdering his live-in partner,Nikki Yadav, and then stuffed her body inside a refrigerator at his dhaba at Mitraon Village in Southwest Delhi.

The couple were in a relationship for the past few years and Nikki wanted to marry the accused. But he kept his marriage to another woman from his girlfriend which was going to be held on 10th February.

On the night of 9-10 February, when the victim confronted the accused about his marriage, he killed her using the data cable of his mobile phone in his car and then kept her body in a refrigerator at his own dhaba.

Later it was found out that he had plans to push her out and pass it off as an accident. When his plan could not succeed, he strangulated her inside the car which resulted in her death.

In yet another twist in the case, police stated that Yadav was not her girlfriend and live-in partner, but actually his wife.

The couple had tied the knot at an Arya Samaj temple in Greater Noida in 2020. They hide the marriage from their families as they belong to different communities and when Sahil’s family found out about it, they opposed the marriage and decided to fix his marriage with someone else.

It is also to be noted that the Nikki Yadav murder case has also gain more attention because of its uncanny resemblance to the infamous Shraddha Walkar case, where Walkar had also been killed by his own live-in partner, Aftab Poonawala.
