The Apex Court recently paved way for a probe by the Odisha vigilance department against BJD MLA Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy into a complaint.

He was therefore alleged to amassed assets inordinate to his legal source of income.

A bench comprising of Justice Bela M Trivedi & Justice Ajay Rastogi sets their verdict of February 3, 2021 observing that the High Court has committed “a manifest error.”

The Orissa High Court quashed the December 11, 2020 order that is passed by the state Lokayukta ordering a preliminary inquiry of vigilance by Ranjan Kumar Das (deputy superintendent of Police of the vigilance cell) against the Biju Janata Dal MLA.

State’s anti-graft ombudsman ordered the Directorate of Vigilance, hits to conduct a preliminary inquiry against Panigrahy, the MLA from Gopalpur constituency, and submit a report to the Lokayukta.
