Rouse Avenue Court Sentences Jail for 2 AAP MLAs and Grants Them Bail Also

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has announced the punishment of two Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Akhilesh Pati Tripathi and Sanjeev Jha in the case of mob attack on policemen present at Burari police station in 2015. The court sentenced Aam Aadmi Party MLA Akhilesh Pati Tripathi to 6 months imprisonment and fined Rs 10,000 while AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha was sentenced to 3 months and fined Rs 10,000.

The court has also granted bail to Akhilesh Pati Tripathi and Sanjeev Jha.

The Court observed that the accused was not only an active participant in the unlawful assembly but was in fact leading the mob.
The court held in its judgment that the accused had instigated the mob with an intention to teach the police a lesson. The court also observed that the already tense situation worsened and as a result the mob went out of control and started pelting stones at the police personnel which resulted several police personnel got injured.

This case is of February 20, 2015 when an unruly mob attacked the policemen present at the Burari police station. A crowd of people was demanding the police to hand over the two arrested men to them
